Ministry Background

Concord Missionary Baptist Church is a church of dynamic growth and leadership. Since it’s inception over 30 years ago it has been among the frontrunners in ministry modeling and development under the leadership of Rev. Dr E.K. Bailey, an inspiring visionary and leader.   Pastor Bailey, with a heart for “young people”, expressed during his tenure to establish a ministry that would minister to those of college age. 

Today under the leadership of Pastor Bryan Carter a new effort is being made.  It’s an effort to bridge a widening gap in many churches today.  It’s an effort to change the mindset and lives of tomorrow’s leaders.  It’s an effort to give encouragement and hope to those at a volatile age (18-29) through ministering to their needs.  This effort is taking place through the ministry of DireXion, a ministry designed for and supported by 18 to 20-somethings.

The Need
DireXion serves as a bridge between the Youth Ministry and Adult Ministries of Concord giving those between the ages of 18 to 20-somethings a dedicated ministry to call their own. There is a need to connect with young adults within and outside the walls of Concord to make an impact in their lives. There has to be a presenting of the truth with a contemporary edge, an encouraging environment where people can come and socialize with friends and others, and a place where young adults can identify their life purpose and live it out.

If this age group is not ministered to in an effective way, many will continue to fall into various dead end cycles of sin perpetuating a life that lacks identity and has no or little Godly purpose and direction.

The Solution
Because of the great need, DireXion will serve as a “spiritual hub” for college students and young adults in the Dallas area.
