CMBC Senior Center
Essie Fielder, Director

“Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere God.  I am the Lord.”  Leviticus 19:32

The Concord Senior Center will celebrate it's eighth year on May 3, 2007.  The center is the largest in the DFW area with daily attendance averaging 72 seniors and serving over 1,580 meals per month. The senior center is better able to supply the transportation needs of its members and the Concord Church ministry with a 15-passenger minibus.  The minibus provides transportation for 75% of the attendees.

Supporting its participants with basic living necessities, the senior center offers aid in the area of utility assistance.  In conjunction with the North Texas Food Bank, the senior center serves over 100 seniors at Concord the second Tuesday in each month, giving 20 pounds of boxed food to each participant.  Also, the City Nurses are in attendance on the third Tuesday of each month to address their health issues and make necessary referrals.

The Concord Senior Center has also been instrumental acquiring participation on drug card applications completed and now its members enjoy use of their cards.  In addition to presentations offering question and answer sessions from the Social Security Administration, the Veterans Administration, Medicare and Medicaid, Alzheimer’s, Jewish Family Services, Pharmacists, Fire Department, the Cataract Institute, and the American Red Cross there are other activities including quilting, exercise, computers and beginning piano.  The senior center also invites entertainment from other outside sources and out-of-town guests.
